A learner with dyslexia can understand a language very well, yet still struggle with the mechanics of reading and writing. In German lessons, this often appears in spelling patterns, decoding difficulties and reduced confidence, especially when classroom materials are not designed with dyslexia in mind. The deutsch.info+ project set out to address this gap by developing new approaches and resources for learning and teaching German with dyslexia.
The project focused on three concrete needs. First, it created professional development materials for teachers of German on working with learners with dyslexia, delivered as an online course. Second, it developed ready to use classroom materials for teaching children with dyslexia. Third, it provided online materials that children with dyslexia can use independently. Teachers were the direct target group, while learners were addressed indirectly, across both German as a foreign language and German as a second language contexts.

Results and outputs
The core results include an upgraded online teacher portal focused on German instruction for learners with reading and spelling difficulties, including LRS and dyslexia. This is complemented by an online teacher guide and a set of classroom materials adapted specifically for dyslexic learners.
The materials combine printable resources with audio support and include classroom friendly activities such as game templates and flashcards, designed to make practice more accessible and engaging. The online component was also expanded with interactive exercises that allow learners with dyslexia to practise reading, spelling and basic grammar independently.
Our role
Studio GAUS GmbH carried out the full development of deutsch.info+ and worked on the further development of deutsch.info as an inclusive learning platform for German with dyslexia. We also contributed to the coordination of the project.
We worked with the content partners on how the dyslexia-focused materials are presented and used within the existing deutsch.info teacher environment. This included integrating new learning materials, adapting visual and structural elements, and ensuring that the resources function coherently alongside existing content on the platform.
Across the project, we coordinated testing and refinement processes so that pedagogical concepts and platform structures developed in parallel. We also prepared downloadable materials and publication workflows to ensure that the results remain accessible, reusable and sustainably available to teachers and learners beyond the project period.

End users were involved at several stages. Early needs analysis included interviews with teachers and pupils with dyslexia. After the first version of the materials was developed, offline testing took place in schools. Near the end of the project, an online test version of the teacher portal was evaluated through questionnaires distributed to German teachers.
Visibility and impact
Dissemination activities reached the defined target groups across the partner countries. The new content on the deutsch.info teacher platform was taken up by teachers, with guidelines and teaching packages used in professional practice.
Dissemination used a broad mix of channels. Project related publications and newsletters reached more than 4,000 people, while social media activity achieved a reach of over 350,000. Events and presentations engaged around 2,000 people in total, including approximately 2,000 German teachers in the partner countries who received direct information through meetings and conferences.
